From deep within the urban forest of Pittsburgh’s East End, The Squirrel Hillbillies are making a first-time tour to the Pacific NW, to share their eclectic mix of acoustic roots music, spanning folk, country and blues. They have performed hundreds of shows across the US and the UK.
Through a collaborative, nonlinear songwriting process, duo partners Jenny Wolsk (vocals, uke, mando, bass, percussion) and Gary Crouth (vocals, guitar, uke) draw from personal experiences, third-hand stories, and vivid imaginations to craft songs that are unpredictable and quirky yet widely accessible.
Seattle songwriter and fiddler Kat Bula will play an opening set: With an irreverent respect for tradition, a poet’s aversion to non-load-bearing lyrics, a fearless imagination and an unapologetically older-millennial sensibility, Kat brings a singular voice to contemporary bluegrass and Americana.
