SFS partners with The Bushwick Book Club Seattle for a special night of original music inspired by literature!
Since 2010, Bushwick has produced monthly concerts of original music inspired by books, and the nonprofit’s mission is to deliver literature, music, and songwriting to the Seattle community while building the next generation of musicians and readers. Part of the 2026-2027 Don’t Tell Me The Odds! season, October 17 highlights Robert C. O’Brien’s Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH —a beloved novel for all ages.
Mrs. Frisby is a widowed field mouse with a sick child and an impossible deadline: move before the spring plowing, or the child will face certain death. Fortunately, she’s got some truly incredible neighbors. The extraordinarily intelligent rats of NIMH, who escaped a government laboratory and are building a civilization of their own, take her plight as their own and illustrate the profound power of asking for help.
The evening will feature multiple performers debuting a brand-new song inspired by their experience of reading the novel. Lineup announcement coming soon!
