Acclaimed English Folksinger Hazel Askew is kicking off the Seattle Folklore Society’s Fall concert season with a virtual concert on Saturday Oct 2nd.
Hazel’s distinctive voice and prowess as a top player on the melodeon, concertina, and harp has seen her performing as a folk duet with her sister as the Askew Sisters, and the group Lady Maisery. With the early music ensemble The Artisans, she has played at Buckingham Palace, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and live on BBC Radio 3’s Early Music Show and Essential Classics. Her roots in, and renditions of, traditional English folk tunes, carry on the tradition to a level of integrity reminiscent of English folk icons such as Martin Carthy. The Telegraph calls her music “traditional folk in a fine, fresh, form,” and FolkWords describes it as “Songs that move you through striking dark and light tales.”
Tickets from Konnectclub will allow viewing or re-watching anytime from 7PM Saturday Oct 2nd, until Sunday evening (beginning before 7pm)
