Up From The Streets: New Orleans: The City of Music – “Virtual” Film release May 15th

Filmmaker Michael Murphy is presenting his new award-winning film, Up From The Streets: New Orleans: The City of Music, in an effort to raise money for Louisiana musicians who have lost income amid the Covid-19 pandemic. A celebration of the music and culture of New Orleans over the decades, it features performances by Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Neville Brothers and Preservation Hall, archival footage of Louis Armstrong and other jazz legends as well as interviews with Wynton Marsalis, Bonnie Raitt, Sting and Robert Plant. The film will begin showing in more than 50 “virtual cinemas” on May 15th.

Virtual Jams!

The Oly Old-time Festival (Olympia, WA) is now underway until Sunday
with workshops, concerts, and dances. Featured guests include Brad Leftwich and the Humdingers, the Evie Ladin & Keith Terry Duo, Ella Korth, Piney Gals, Sassafrass Sisters, and more.

In addiiton the Winter Feis festival of Scottish language, music, art, culture and dance is taking place at St Benedict’s School (4811 Wallingford Ave N, Seattle)

If you are in the mood for a wonderful evening of Scottish song, tickets are still available for the Jim and Susie Malcolm concert in the Phinney Center Saturday Feb. 15th. (advance tickets on-line until 12:30 Saturday, then a few more should be available at the door, payable by cash or check).
