SFS Board Meeting
March 7, 2006

In attendance:
Bruce Baker, Woody Wood, Warren Argo, John Ullman, Valerie Cohen, Fred Maslan, Jack Aldrich, Karen Shaw, Susan Howell, Adam Carlson

Election policy and new members of the board
    - Form nominating committee
       - Karen Shaw, Fred Maslan, Bruce Baker, Adam Carlson
    - Need letters of intent from prospective board members
    - Nominating committee will propose procedures to the board, and contact prospective members
    - Once those procedures are in place, committee will send a letter to people who expressed interest in board membership at the annual meeting.
    - Move & Second to vote on Ralph Kosche for board member
    - Approved by a unanimous vote
    

Election of executive committee
Nominations
    - Karen Shaw for president (Nominating/seconding Jack Aldrich/Adam Carlson)
    - John Ullman for vice president (Karen Shaw/Jack Aldrich)
    - Adam Carlson for Secretary (Karen Shaw/Valerie Cohen)
    - Ralph Kosche for Treasurer (Karen Shaw/Valerie Cohen)
Votes
    - All voted in unanimously

Three cheers for Bruce!  Long time president/treasurer/all-around good guy.

Eric Chard's Library proposal
     - Need additional info on proposal details and need to identify a space (possibly at the PNA brick building top floor.)
    - How much space would be needed?
    - How to deal with shrinkage?
    - Open to public and membership?
    - Same location could be used to store existing resource (old tapes and videos in Susan's & Carol's homes.)
    - Eric should come and propose a business plan.
    - Precedents - Educators library in south end.
    - Procedures need to be determined.
    - Bruce will feel out Ed Medeiros at PNA about housing it there.

Lee Stripling movie - off the table.

40th Anniversary
        - Nov 16
    - Fred put a blurb in Mudcat
    - At Concert Committee, Shirley proposed a concert for weekend of Nov. 18.  The board has no problem with that and doesn't think it will compete with the Nov. 16 event.

Membership database
    - Larry Holm & Valerie are working together to move this forward, could be in late April.

Insurance cost
    - Tabled for new treasurer

Board sponsorship discussion
    - Need board liason for every activity

Sing out
    - Sing out is running a promotion to get organizations to encourage members to subscribe
    - As a benefit of membership, the new subscriber would get a 20% ($5) discount and SFS would get a 20% ($5) contribution.
    - We should do a calendar listing, and maybe trade ads, or at least send in an article
    - Move to vote Adam/Valerie
    - Approved by unanimous assent

Intern
    - Credit and a UW grade for help with archiving
    - Could curate a dvd/exhibit for 40th anniv.
    - Need more investigation - Susan will be in contact

Gene Hubert's passing - notice for flyer
